Rights Respecting School Award
What is a Rights Respecting School?
Putting children’s rights at the heart of school
A Rights Respecting School is a place where we can all feel confident with ourselves and it encourages us to use our voice. It helps to build confidence and raise awareness of what’s right and wrong. We are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School (RRSA).
The Award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond.
There are three stages to the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Bronze Silver Gold
Silver – On the 23rd May we were assesed by Unicef for the Silver Rights aware Award. The assessor spoke with staff and children to talk about how we are rights aware and learning all about children rights. We have received our certificate and a banner will be displayed outside school. Well done MPJS!
Bronze –Wow we have already achieved our first award. On 16/01/2021 with the help of the whole school and school councillors we were awarded the first Bronze award. Now we will be working hard towards Silver.
Article of the week
We have started our journey of discovering what the articles in the convention are and what they mean to us and other children around the world. Article of the week is a chance for the children to show their understanding of the rights that our school is working towards for each Rights Respecting Schools Award.
