Garden Gang

Here at Mount Pleasant Junior School we have started a major project of enhancing the grounds of the school. Part of this is creating a new Garden Gang to help assist with the design and upkeep of the school grounds.

Currently we have 48 pupils in Garden Gang, 12 children from each year group!

The children in the garden gang are really enjoying being outdoors and helping us make our school grounds lovely. They are very helpful and engaged. Having grown and cared for herbs, flowers in baskets and a wide range of vegetables.

We already have five raised planting beds and we plan to have another three installed very soon.

We are also having a potting shed built, so that the children can grow new plants and flowers and vegetable and herbs from seeds.

“It is amazing how many of our children are already very knowledgeable of plants, as many of the children grow a range of plants at home in their garden.” Leonie Emery, Site Manager and Garden Gang Leader.
