We are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School (RRSA).
What is a Rights Respecting School?
The Award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond.
There are three stages to the Rights Respecting Schools Award.
Bronze –Wow we have already achieved our first award. On 16/01/2021 with the help of the whole school and school councillors we were awarded the first Bronze award. Now we will be working hard towards Silver.
Silver-we are now working towards Silver
Gold
Together young people and the school community learn about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day. The Award is not just about what children do but also, importantly, what adults do. In Rights Respecting Schools children’s rights are promoted and realised, adults and children work towards this goal together.
Why it is important to be a Rights Respecting School.
A child who understands their rights and learn how they should be treated improves children’s self-esteem and wellbeing. Children will feel safer, build healthy relationships, and become more active in their school life and world.
How will we achieve the Silver Award?
We have created a plan which include topics in the curriculum, assemblies, children creating and making displays. Reading, learning and researching about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
