On 22nd September, we celebrated World Rhino Day. We were joined by Care for Wild Ambassador, Mrs Amanda Smith, who shared her rhino expertise and experiences with the children as they worked to answer Rhino related Learning Questions.
The whole day was inspired by  a rather tired looking fibreglass rhino that we had been donated. Thanks to Team Kifaru our knowledge and our rhino have been transformed! In addition, thanks to your generosity we have raised enough money to sponsor ‘Daisy’ an orphan rhino cared for on a reserve in South Africa.

Mrs Smith arranged for us to ‘meet’ Daisy virtually whilst she was being fed and we also took a virtual safari with rangers at the Ol Peteja Reserve in Kenya. We met the team of rangers as they looked after the last 2 Northern White Rhinos in existence. It was an incredible moment when the children (all 350 of them) welcomed Viktor the Ranger to our assembly!

We raised £206.63 to sponsor Daisy, the orphan rhino.

Our Year 4 Bloggers went and asked their peers what they thought and did on World Rhino Day:

What did you learn?

“There are only two white female rhinos in the Savannah.” – Alex, Yr 4

“Interested about rhinos and how they impact on our habitat.” – Ayan, Yr 4

“They use their horns to dig.” – Florin, Yr 4
